the barn

a few weeks ago, i was supposed to go out for my time off, but it was snowing and storming so much that i could not get the car out of the driveway. instead, at ed's suggestion, i walked over to this barn; i brought along my camping chair and book. i was bundled up, with my big coat, hat, gloves, and two pairs of pants. i sat inside the barn, in the dim light that came through the open door, and read. the storm raged outside. eventually, i put down my book and just watched. actually, it wasn't just watching. it was more like being with the storm - watching, listening, feeling it on my skin. the snow was so wild it blew right into the barn to where i sat. i could feel the strength of the storm though i felt sheltered. it was a great experience, and i'm glad that my plans to go out as usual didn't work out.
i took the picture below this past monday, on a different day than the storm.
