whale watching in Plymouth, Ma

we had such a good time yesterday! i can't believe how much fun sena and aiyana are to hang out with. they like to do the same things as i do, and they're really well behaved, so it's like being with two good friends. we saw so many whales - according to the people on the boat, it was one of the best trips they've had. there were 30 whales all around us doing different things, spoutning, breaching, rolling, slapping their tales. it was very impressive, but i was a concerned about them, because i thought that there were too many boats aroud: about 3-4 large ones, and 3-4 smaller private ones.

we were at Stellewagen bang, a famous feeding grounds for humpback whales. sena knew all about it. the biologist onboard was very impressed with sena's knowledge and involvement on whales. she talked to us on and off the whole trip, asking sena about her public service announcements on the radio, about her booth at the famers' market, and the kind of info she's distributing on whales, about her involvement with Cetacean Society International, and so on.

i wish we had had more time to spend in plymouth, a lovely little seaport town. but we had enough to find a great cafe, with home-made bread and granola, and great coffee. we had lunch there, and met the baker, a native american cherokee who spoke to us for a while about his grandfather and his tribe.

it really was a beautiful day. i didn't even think about the farm at all, which is pretty much unheard of!
here are some pictures:

It looks lovely. I'm sure it was really nice to take a little break from your daily chores on the farm.
