spring in winter

the past two days have been gorgeous - sunny and warm. so the kids and i spent a lot of times outside, and it felt so nice. on monday, we had an impromptu walk in the woods, where these pictures are taken. we spent time walking around, looking for animal tracks, and playing. the nicest part, for me, was on the way back to the car, when we took a little rest under a big tree. i noticed a sweet patch of moss on the ground under the tree, and i pointed it to sena, and she decided right away that it was a perfect sleeping spot. so she and aiyana started gathering leaves and pine needles, making a cozy nest for themselves. i just sat in the sun close-by, watching them, enjoying the warmth and beauty of the woods.
here are some pictures from that day:

sena, the little tree-hugger (she also talks to the trees)

this is a little pond we came accross on our hike. sena and aiyana were very excited to play on the shore, picking up pieces of ice and throwing them as far as possible into the pond.

i really liked the roots of this tree, and sena reminded me of a little forest sprite

and back to the car, as the sun starts going down
